RIVERSEDGE CHORUS SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
In 2009, RiversEdge Chorus began a scholarship foundation to be awarded to a musically talented senior girl in Spokane County. The criteria would be a good grade point average at a high school in Spokane County, musical talent, and plans to attend college where she would study in the music field. She would also be required to sing on the chorus’ annual show. Our first scholarship was awarded in 2010. So far, we feel it has been a great success, and we plan to continue it every year. To donate to the RiversEdge Scholarship Foundation, please contact our Scholarship Chair, Mary Ann Milette at mmilette@aol.com or 509-292-8286. EMILY STICKEL
Our 2010 recipient is Emily Stickel, a senior at Freeman High School. Along with a 3.75 GPA, Emily is a member of National Honor Society, Editor & Chief of the Freemen School Paper. She has found time to sing in the Bi-County Choir for the past 5 years along with being accepted into the All-State Honor Choir in Yakima this year . She has been in a band called “Eighth Decade” through most of her high school years and currently is in a duo with her brother called EmmaJean & Sammy. Emily also placed third in the “Spokane’s Got Talent” competition. It’s not a coincidence that Emily is an accomplished musician, since she has studied music since the 4th grade and plays the piano along with having a beautiful voice. In her own words, “I have been singing and writing songs and poems my whole life - it’s my passion!” Emily plans to pursue a major in forensic science with a minor in performing arts.
BAILY JEAN RIGGIN
Our 2011 Scholarship recipient is Baily Jean Riggin, a senior from East Valley High School. Baily has been singing as long as she can remember and has been involved in school and church choirs since 6th grade. Currently, she is a soprano in her high school’s concert and advance choirs. Baily writes some of her own songs, and a couple of years ago she decided to teach herself to play guitar, so she did. She loves it, and plans on learning piano soon. Baily has been accepted to the music program at Eastern Washington University, where she plans to study vocal performance and vocal education.
